High Pressure Gas Cylinder Flexible Pigtails, Stainless Steel Braided, Polymer Inner Core Hoses |
 |
| |
Smooth bore PTFE “Teflon” inner-core stainless steel flexible pigtails have been used for 4 decades in high pressure gas applications with excellent results and long service life. These hoses have been used for high pressure gases including, oxygen, inert gases, hydrogen, helium, acetylene, carbon dioxide, and gas mixes.
The physical characteristics of PTFE make it an excellent choice for use as a hose for many reasons:
- FDA and Pharmaceutical approved
- Wide temperature range for operation: -100 F (-73 C) to +500 F (+260 C)
- Inherently clean, Non-contaminating, Neutral to taste, color, or odor
- Non-stick, resists adherence of particles or contamination by fluids
- Steam, detergent, or caustic cleanable
- Resistant to chemical decomposition with solvents, corrosive chemicals, and gases
- Extremely flexible for ease of connection
- High flow capability, low pressure drop
STI Components ¼” I.D. flexible Pigtails are manufactured in accordance with Compressed Gas Association Standard, “CGA E.9, Standard for Medium Pressure (3000 psig) Flexible PTFE- Lined Pigtails for Compressed Gas Service."
STI Components provides a ¼” I.D. Teflon PTFE flexible pigtail with the following characteristics:
- A .040” wall thickness, which is 30% thicker than many others on the market, favorable for low permeation, resistance against kinking, and long service life
- “Post Sintered” PTFE inner-core , substantially reducing the permeation (effusion) of gases, specify nothing less for gas service
- Totally open flow area surrounded by smooth bore PTFE resulting in a “self-cleaning” hose to avoid the adherence and collection of particles or substances in the flow-stream
- Nothing inside the hose to erode the PTFE material during flexing and bending during connection cycles, for the longest service life
- Wide range of end fitting choices for every industry application, including a brass DVP* end for oxygen service
- Strong end fitting design, controlled radial crimp, and stainless steel collars for maximum strength
- 100% pressure tested, with cleaning, capping, and bagging for oxygen service
With the thicker wall and post sintered PTFE inner-core, this hose is the choice of most companies for cylinder filling applications requiring low pressure drop for full flow at a high rate, and many cylinder discharge applications as well.
STI Components also provides a ¼” I.D. ETFE “Tefzel” inner-core flexible pigtail with a permeation rate 77% lower than PTFE , specifically for use in hydrogen and helium gas service.
Safety Notes:
- ETFE is not recommended for oxygen service.
- For hydrogen or helium cylinder gas supply manifolds or hospital oxygen reserve banks, STI recommends a zero-permeation pigtail, see our Stainless Steel Innercore hose.
- *The brass DVP end fitting, is recommended as a “distance volume piece” for maximum protection against adiabatic compression effect in oxygen service per CGA E.9, proven for safe use of PTFE in oxygen service.

Optional- Armor Casing – Strong Stainless Steel Interlock
- Highly recommended for applications where the flexible pigtails are handled frequently
- Protection against braid wire damage and kink-resistance
- Smooth, clean, easy to handle protective cover of armor over the hose
- Greatly extends service life
