Anatomy of a Failed Gasket
In understanding how a
hygienic seal works, it’s becomes important sometimes to
understand why a hygienic seal fails. Either
Over-Tightening or Under-Tightening a seal will cause
serious problems to a sanitary system.
An over-tightened gasket
will: |
- Extrude into the I.D.
obstructing flow and collect soil
- Extrude beyond the O.D.
- Crack, tear and rip and
hold bacteria
- Become permanently
deformed jeopardizing sealing surface and product
integrity
